- SESAME PLACE – FIRST THEME PARK IN PENNSYLVANIA TO BE 100 PERCENT SMOKE-FREE  
It makes perfect sense that of all the theme parks in Pennsylvania, the first to be 100 percent smoke-free is Sesame Place, the nation’s only theme park based on the award-winning television show Sesame Street.  With the understanding that children should be exposed to the safest environments, Robert J. Caruso, executive vice president and general manager of Sesame Place, decided with his management team that they will provide the safest, most family-friendly experience for their guests. While many theme parks have designated smoking areas, Sesame Place, wanted to go one step further. “We are a children’s theme park; 42 percent of our guests are children under 9 years of age, and it is most important that we take all precautions to ensure the safest experience for our young guests,” Caruso said.
